ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

Founded over 13 years ago – and led by a small, passionate and dedicated team – the Trust for the National Mall (TNM) is the leading nonprofit, nonpartisan philanthropic partner of the National Park Service dedicated to restoring, preserving and enriching the National Mall. The Trust brings expertise, private funding and in-kind support to time-sensitive restoration and sustainability projects, mobilizes volunteers and provides educational opportunities to ensure that the National Mall endures and evolves as a vibrant space for all. PROGRAM SUMMARY

Interns support the implementation of the Trust’s goals and strategies by serving in one or more of the following focus areas: Donor Cultivation and Stewardship, Marketing and Communications, Programming and Public Engagement. Interns will gain an understanding of the complex operations of a small nonprofit and will have the opportunity to participate in diverse projects while learning and gaining skills to support their career aspirations. While the focus areas give an overview of projects, incumbents may support work from other focus areas as interested and available. This is a paid internship with an expected tenure of 10-12 weeks, depending on schedule and projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Current college student or within 2 years of graduating 

  • Able to commit 100 hours over 10-12 weeks during normal office hours (9AM – 5PM Monday-Friday). Schedules are flexible. 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet strict deadlines 

  • Detail oriented with strong follow-up skills 

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills 

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and handle multiple projects simultaneously, as well as contribute as a team player 

  • Can demonstrate proficient use of MS Office applications
