Our Work

RestorING, EnrichING & PreservING the National Mall

With more than 36 million annual visits, more than Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and Yosemite National Park combined, the National Mall is one of the most visited parks in the world. It also has the highest cost for needed maintenance and modernization – more than any other national park; public allocations from Congress have been insufficient to sustain the National Mall.

The Trust is the lead partner of the National Park Service to raise the necessary funds and awareness to accelerate modern and resilient solutions to the infrastructure and sustainability problems of the National Mall. We have ambitious plans to achieve these objectives by the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS

Restoration & Sustainability

We provide private funding, in-kind resources, and expertise in design and management, to capital improvement projects on the National Mall. Our goal is to deliver modern and resilient solutions to critical maintenance issues and needed upgrades that improve the iconic structures, historic buildings, landscapes, visitor amenities and educational opportunities, to enhance the overall visitor experience.

Public Awareness & Education

We work year-around to bring awareness of the critical needs and efforts to restore, preserve and enrich the National Mall. We also bring attention to the partnerships and activities – virtually and on site – to connect visitors to the National Mall’s rich history and stories that will educate and inspire current and future stewards of the National Mall.
